Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the US. The actress is an actor, singer and dancer. In her early Broadway role, she was the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her role on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in a Play. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her professional career working with well-known directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford will be next starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is in the production for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust which also features Sarah Paulson. The film is scheduled to stream through Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be on March 20, 2023. He stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key actors into the very first impeachment proceeding in America in more than a century. She was also the lead in two seasons of CBS comedy B Positive. The show was written by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. The show also included Ben Vereen as well as Hector Elizondo. Other Broadway roles for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and is now dividing the time in Los Angeles, and New York.
