Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 in the Olympic competition. Bela Karalyi discovered Comaneci when she was six. Later, she would become Romania's gymnastics coach. Her first competition was in the national junior championships which she finished 13th in 1969. In the year 1970, she was crowned champion. The first time she competed in an international meet that was an Olympic-style junior preolympic competition for countries in the Communist bloc, she took home three gold medals. And in 1973 and 1975, she won named the all-around Junior Champion. In her first international competition as a senior, in 1975 she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion winning four gold and one silver medal. The year was 1976 when she won the American Cup at the New York City Olympic Games and was the first female to ever dismount parallel bars with the double backward salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. When she was a teen Carol Wayne started working in the entertainment business as a performer as a figure skater. Together with her younger twin brother Nina Wayne she was part of a show that traveled called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol began her journey into the entertainment business during her teenage years. She began her career with her joining Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling performance. The shows featured theatrical ice-skating performances.
